Haha I hate it when people use the G18 akimbos. In my opinion, they take no skill, or at least most of my deaths from them are just spray-n-pray kills.
An example of a situation in which I like a shotgun better is spawn killing at the A flag on domination on terminal. If you have a SPAS-12 with extended mags, and a few people covering your back, you can completely destroy their team with just a few shots.
I see what you're saying though, and I like both of them about the same, I just slightly prefer the shotgun more than pistols. My preference is also difference depending on what my primary weapon is. If I'm sniping, then I almost always go with the akimbo USPs or Rafficas

The rafficas are the best secondary in the game. With akimbo they have as much power as any shotgun, take only 1-2 bursts to kill and are very accurate. Also the magazine size is pretty large and they reload fast so they're nice in spray situations. I don't know if they're underrated but I definitely don't see them that much.
As for primary underrated I would say the P90. It's basically the same as it was in Cod4 which was complete pwnage.

Assault rifle : F2000 honestly its an amazing weapon for what its built for, its not an acr, you have to remember that, but if you know how to use it, than its a box of rape in your hands.
Sub machine gun : all of them aside from the ump.45, i never see any other sub machine gun used.
LMG: L86 LSW i like it, but no one uses it at all.
secondary : TMP seriously this thing is rape, no one uses it. Try it out, its sick with the red dot on it.

Actually all machine pistols except rafficas take longer to pull out, too.

Anything that has the tmp involved seems to be underrated. Do you use the tmp? I think its an awesome gun haha=D
Mg4 with red dot and a striker would probably get someone a victory..
