Cake is a lie
Might be that your disc is losing data.
The exact same thing happened to COD4 for me :/

It might be a scratched disk.... dunno.. it use to happen a lot to me while playing CoD4 campaign.. (haven't played that in a while, so the problem is probably still there)

Well with a 20g ps3 everything is alot slower so that may be your problem

Climbing up the ladder
This happens to me very often and i have a 60g ps3. It also happens with cod4 but it doesn't freeze the game just quits itself and puts me back to the xmb menu. But there are no scratches on the games.

its the start of ylod and/or the blue ray failing

dust is the main killer of ur ps3 it gets inside and sticks to stuff in there and creates a kind of insolation, it over heats cracks the solder on ur ps3 = ylod/ blue ray failure

or ur disc is ****ed, try it with another "high power graphic game" like BfBc2 if it freeze's on another high power game ur ps3 is about to die

happend to me and my friend

i recomend gettin a slim if u dont wana mod ect they run on a much lower tempature

in the meanwhile play an older game like cod4 it will rarely crash/freeze when its not trying to run so much memory/graphics till u can get it fixed or buy a slim

i think it was the ylod. i play farcry2 which can be extremely laggy at times. and the ps3 didnt crash. the whole system was shut down and the red light was on. i might go and disect my ps3 so i can add a fresh layer of coolent paste to the sections in the mother board. people say that the leading cause of ylod is either overheating or that the coolent paste in the ps3's motherboard is dry.

if it helps anyone with the same problemb. here is an url that can help you save money and the trouble for the ylod.

[ame=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eu3QU8xWxI8]YouTube - Prevent the PS3 YLOD Yellow Light of Death (1 of 7)[/ame]

watch all the videos and follow it carefully.

this is a video to PREVENT the ylod from happening, NOT to fix it
not my vid

update! i took in concideration with a post and i played killzone2 ( which is another high end grafix game) and it played smoothly when i was playing it. ( no sign outs, crashes, etc).

this led me to think that its mw2, but the disk is not scratched, dusty, etc.
