(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});Howdy there, I am going to be giving a short overview of all the maps in the new Resurgence DLC package from Infinity Ward! This review will cover the map detail, first impressions of the maps and also a description of how they are to play.
If you want me to add anything on to this review, comment and I will be more than happy to include it for you.
So, let's start off with the maps that, in all honesty, no-one really gave two shits about. These maps are, of course, the two returning maps; Strike and Vacant
You may be in the vast majority of people that think that Infinity Ward was just being lazy by incorporating old maps into the new Modern Warfare title. I was one of those people too, but then I played on Strike. This is clearly a great example of a reputable company wanting people to realise that they really are trying to prove that they are putting love and effort into this.
It is incredibly well re-designed, it has been refurbished in many magnificent ways. For example, they have put misleading objects all over the popular camping spots that look exactly like enemies, meaning that you will get people constantly grenading and assaulting that area. Bad news for campers! Strike has really improved in my eyes. Another nice touch is that they made it slightly foggy and misty down the huge middle passage of the map where you can see clearly down the whole length of the map. This made it a lot easier to run across the map without being picked off by snipers. Love what they've done here.
You can tell that they wanted you to get the feeling that, even though you may have mastered this map in CoD4, they really want you to have to master it again in MW2. And they've accomplished that.
Vacant. One of my favourite maps from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Really glad to see it made a comeback. This is more of the same story as Strike, they've really done well with redesigning this map. A crisp artistic makeover has made real differences to the atmosphere of this map. Another great touch was to make one of the main huge gates, which was always permanently blocked in CoD4, unblocked in this version of the DLC. However, to add the icing on the cake to this new improvisation from Infinity Ward, they have made it so that this gate is only open in certain game modes. This can either ruin or make your game plan if you don't know when it will be blocked/unblocked.
I would rate this 8/10
Now, on to the new additions to the Modern Warfare archive.

By far one of my favourite maps. Robert Bowling was right. This really has got a little bit of everything. It is just so cool when you start and you have a choice laid out in front of you, you can either climb the rocket-ship to get a great vantage point, climb up to a huge wooden castle with great cover, climb up and manoeuvre your way around the roller-coaster frame or just get lost in the maze that is the top floor of the children's playground. This map really is a lot of fun, a creation that is really innovative and original from Infinity Ward, like nothing I've seen them do before. If you want to get a good, action packed, kill-filled game, just manoeuvre your way around the top floor of the children's playground, it has good vantage points of the whole map, but is a high traffic area for enemies to patrol with lots of doors for them to get you through.
However, be warned, this is a camper's paradise.
I would rate this 9/10

Probably my least favourite map in the Resurgence DLC pack. Even though it has all the makings of a potential favourite for me, narrow corridors, lots of buildings and many different routes to take, I just don't feel like they made the most of this map. It feels too clunky and underdeveloped, like they could have done something that would have greatly increased the playability of this map. It just doesn't feel right for most game modes. However, I did really enjoy my games here in both Search and Destroy and Demolition.
This, also, is filled with campers, so beware!
At last, we come to the final map in the Resurgence map pack. This map, Fuel, really is one of the biggest maps in the game. Not quite as much of a contender as Overgrown, but very close. The map consists of one HUGE open space with barely even a couple of office buildings to give you cover -- this covers just under half of the map -- and a load of small to medium sized buildings taking up the other half of the map. I really love this map, it is the type of map that, if you're careful, you could easily get a flawless game without camping. On my first game, I just slowly made my way around the perimeter of the map and got a 12 kill streak without using any of my killstreaks by that point. On a first glance, this map really reminds you of Broadcast. There are TV's in the same kind of TV station buildings taking up a percentage of the map, which are really fun to creep around and take out unsuspecting douchebags from the other team. As with most of the maps on Modern Warfare 2, there is a large middle building where most of the action seems to take place. This is one of the better made centres for the battleground in this game, as it feels more balanced, and there are LOADS of great vantage points for assault rifles or snipers here. However, if you do decide to set up camp up in the top floor of this building, be careful of your surroundings! There are a lot of ways for the enemy to get in and kill you.
I would rate this 8/10
This was written by everyone's favourite member: SHEPLEKLET.
This took me about 75 minutes to write, as I had to play each map thoroughly to get teh best idea on what was going on (it was horrible, but I managed to make myself play, for you guys )
As this took me so much time and effort to do, I really would appreciate it if you took the time to comment on what you think about this. Also, comment saying whether you want another type of information on this review, I will be only too happy to write it for you.
Great review Shep. From this review, I can tell that this DLC will be good, at least better than the first. I really like the sound of Carnival and obviously Vacant and Strike (COD4 ftw), I'm not too sure about Fuel and Trailer Park, but I'll find out in due time.
Room for improvement? I think not. I enjoyed reading the review, it was 'fun' for me (0_o) keep up the good work man! <3
Also, I scanned through your post and edited any mistakes. You said you were tired, so I saved you the hassle
