This guide was requested, I can't remember whom by as I deleted my PM's, but yeah it was requested, along with many others, but.. I decided to go with this one, as I play CoD4 often, so handguns are frequently used in my world.

As always in this guide, there will be tactics, statistics, and general reviews on the gun. So yeah, enjoy the guide, hope you benefit from it.

Positive feedback is welcome, as is constructive criticism, however, negative feedback is not welcome, thank you.

Meet the Handguns

Handguns are the fastest swapping sidearms, meaning they come out quickest, when changing weapon. This is effective in many ways, such as if you run out of ammo, you can easily take out the enemy with a few pistol shots.

There are many other ways to use a handgun well, which will be discussed in the tactics section, this section will simply be a review of the handguns, including various stuff.

The beloved USP.45, much respected by players for it's low recoil, and good clip size, which is a clip of 12 bullets. It is a 3 shot kill, when at close-mid range without stopping power, and a 5 shot at longer range, again; without stopping power. When stopping power is active, it reduces each kill by 1 bullet, which is a close range kill of 2 bullets, and a long range kill of 4 bullets. The akimbo USP.45 makes the melee attack faster, infact, faster that the tactical knife attachment, which makes the akimbo USP's a common choice for the MLC knifers. This has a downside though, as with the akimbo's you can only lunge, which takes double the time to cool down, of that with the slash attack. This is the only gun that has a stealth ability with the silencer attachment.

The .44 Magnum, probably one of the more commonly used, possibly because of it's good looks. However, is a very nice weapon, it is a 2 shot kill, regardless of stopping power. From longer ranges it is a 3 shot kill, again; with or without. This is because the magnum does 50-35 damage per shot (DPS). It appears to have a huge recoil, but this is only visual, in reality, it has very minimal recoil. Downsides are it has a small clip, of 6, and no choice of extended mags. However, it's high damage makes up for this, thus making it devastating with akimbo.

Basically the same as the USP, but a quicker damage drop off, and 3 more bullets in the clip, making 15 bullets. A weird thing with the silencer and the M9, is that even with it attached it will still show up on the radar, which is yet to be fixed, I believe. Not really a lot to say on the M9, our basic stock gun from CoD4. Extended mags isn't needed, if you miss with 15 shots, you might need to rethink playing the game. Very good with akimbo, however USP's knife faster, making them a more viable choice.

The Desert Eagle, very seldomly used. Very good damage, hitting 50-30 damage each shot. As we all know, it looks like a beast, and sounds literally, epic. However, it tends to take down the nearest plane after 2 shots. If a player masters this gun, it is a killing machine, and has a massive penetration, which can be increased by using FMJ. The gun is similar to the Magnum, but with 1 more bullet in the clip, 7. Akimbo's are deadly with this, providing you can control the recoil. Our favourite gun from CoD4, right?

[multipage=Handgun Damage]

I cannot explain this at all, as it is on the picture, which pictures each damage, and makes it easy to compare them, very handy.

Basically, the Desert Eagle, and the .44 Magnum have the highest damage, but tend to be harder to use, read the rest of the guide, and come back to this part for ease of use and understanding.

I do give credit where necessary, but I made this halfway, and then carried on later on, so I forgot where I got this, but credit is needed somewhere, so thank you random website/person who helped me, I do secretly <3 you.

[multipage=Attachments]

Attachments are vital on handguns, they make them ten times better, for many reasons, which will be explained under each.

FMJ: Strange attachment, if you want to shoot through walls, use it? I personally find it useless, therefore don't use it, but I don't want you all to follow my biased opinion, so I won't rate.

Silencer: Only usable on the USP and M9, but note with the M9 it still shows on the radar, so it is basically a waste of an attachment. However, it is useful if you want to stay unseen when using your secondary.

Akimbo: Mmmm, akimbo. Best attachment, in my opinion, and most other peoples? Maintains a quick drawout, and with a good finger, you can have homemade G18 akimbo's. So get practicing. Very devastating damage with akimbo handguns, I would recommend using this.

Tactical Knife: King of the infamous MLC combo. Most likely you are using this because you are a knifer. Or you realise this attachment is useful besides being an idiot running around. Most useful on the Magnum or Desert Eagle, to clear out rooms silently.

Extended Mags: If you miss with every pistol bullet = dead. Not really needed, but if you want to use it, by all means do.

[multipage=Tactics]

These are the ways I have seen the handgun used, I will just briefly describe each.

Silenced: With a silencer you can easily stealth, which is a life saver when you need to escape somewhere. Still note the M9 still shows up on radar with a Silencer.

Tactical Knifer: Useful until the enemy become wise to what you are doing, and simply wait on the prowl for you, and bam, your dead before you get there.

Semi-Ghost: Best used with a silenced USP, as you can keep the quickdraw, and ghost with your sidearm, if the enemy get a UAV, as Cpt McMillan of CoD4 would say "We've been spotted! Go loud!".

Adaptive: Don't hesitate to pick up other weapons on the move, if you feel a shotgun is a more viable choice for what your about to do, and there is one nearby, pick it up, and move on.

Ultimate Noob: MLC, doesn't need explaining, nor does it deserve explaining. Grr.

[multipage=To Conclude]

Not a long guide this time, could I really make a long guide for handguns? Either way, thanks/nominations are always welcome, as they are in every guide I do.

Thanks for reading, again, if you did actually read.

Sam out.

Great Guide! It sux that the M9 silencer doesn't work because it is a really good gun. With a trigger finger any of these guns are extremely deadly. I've played full games just using the usp and gotten a great KDR. Thanks again!
