Post: Explanation of a .PKG file.
06-09-2010, 12:12 PM #1
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); A .pkg file is a file that would install something into 3 different system: Sony Playstation 3, Mac and Linux. .pkg is the same thing as an .exe for Microsoft Windows.

.pkg file can only be opened in the system that it was made for. That means you can't get a Mac made .pkg and install in Linux. It will not work! Same thing with the .pkg for the Ps3... It will not work with Linux neither Mac.

Also, a .pkg file does contain files inside of it and the only way to get those files is by actually installing this .pkg into your system. And taking the files from the main Hard Drive. .pkg are not folders of any kind that are encrypted.

Hope this help the people that were stuck trying to decrypt a .pkg file.

Yeah I know I told people that Xpert2Xmas doesn't work to extract PKG files for PS3 but I tried anyway just for shit's and giggles and it extracted 320,939 .unk files all the way from file000000.unk to file320938.unk and it is a ridiculous size after everythins is extracted some files as big as 16 gigs. Like I told everyone before Xpert2 is useless for this.
