format it in pc, have firmware on usb pen ready (.PUP)

plug hdd bk into ps3. when screen comes ion press select and start together. voila!!

If you mess up your firmware, your ps3 wont start when you turn it on, and it will that you will have format your PS3, so therefore u just need to have the firmware in a usb, and press SELECT and START at the same time for 5 seconds, and it will drive u to install your firmware again, YOU LOSE EVERYTHING.

Next time make an image of your PS3 or use the back up function. =D
