PS3 HDD Toolbox is a program to facilitate the encryption and decryption of the hard disk of the PS3. Use the method knightsolidus and therefore it is necessary to have the PS3 to encrypt and decrypt.

1. Warning
Before using this application you must have basic knowledge about the method
knightsolidus decryption.
This application is used to accelerate the iterative process of this method and does not serve to
decrypt the hard disk from the PC or to read the filesystem or anything.
We are not responsible for any damage that may cause the PS3 or the hard drive in case of
misuse or failure of the program.
Nor will give support to people who do not have a minimum knowledge about
what is this app.
It is recommended to back up your data before using this application because
required to delete the entire hard drive.
2. Initial Setup
The PS3 HDD Toolbox works program based on a method of "magic blocks" consisting
previously that the user must encrypt a series of characteristic sectors (128KB) for
the program later able to recognize the position of those in the hard disk
PS3.
2.1 Creating the key.mp3
To create the key.mp3 we open the application, we are asked to select a disc
hard but in this case does not matter that we select:
After this window, you will get the main application window.
We must go to Tools -> Generate fakes and to see the following window.
At the last window we click on Generate key.mp3 and we will have generated a
file called key.mp3 to trace it.
When we have this file copy it to the PS3 by passing by a mp3.
Then connect the hard disk on your PC and select it in the application. Then we
Search key.bin option to scan the hard drive in your search.
If all went well have a file of 128KB key.bin encryption.
3. Generate image eraser
An eraser image is an image of the PS3's hard drive as clean as possible. To create
we must follow the following steps:
1. Fill zeros hard drive using WinHex or any program that allows it.
2. Enter the PS3 hard drive and quick format to write at least
possible.
3. Create an image of the newly formatted hard drive with WinHex or any program
permitted.
4. Save this image as an eraser because we will use later.
NOTE: We do in practice we use two images eraser. This we have just created and
eraser + fake image that we will create later.
4. Generate image eraser + fakes
4.1 Generate fakes
Basically eraser + fakes image is composed of the image we have created eraser
before but the fakes are going to get now.
First we generate the fakes are going to put on the disc. This is done to
"Assign" the hard drive space that we use to decipher.
To generate the fakes, the main program window you click on Tools
-> Generate fakes.
This time we click on Generate magic blocks but before we write
number of fakes that we create. We can create up to 256 equivalent to
8GB. Each fake are 32MB so if you want to assign 1GB of disk space
generate 32 fakes.
After clicking on Generate magic blocks the program will start to generate
XXX.XX.mp3 files
When we all fakes created must be copied to the PS3 using a device
USB or MemoryStick those who are lucky enough to have readers.
4.2 Generate eraser + fakes
To generate the image eraser + fakes simply need to create a disk image
WinHex or similar hard and rename eraser + fakes
4.3 Scan fakes
Once you have the image eraser + fakes we scan with the program
offsets identify places where we have allocated space.
To do this we return to open the application and select either the physical hard disk of the PS3 or
eraser + image clearly fakes that just created.
In the main program screen and blocks Magic paragraph select the file
which is the key.mp3 key.bin that figure.
After we write below the magic number of blocks that we put in the hard disk,
this case 32.

Finally we click on Search magic blocks. Pressing asked us to save a
offsets.ofs file called. This file is important because we will use each time you
want to encrypt or decrypt, so you should keep it together with the image eraser + fakes.
Once the application has finished searching the magic blocks we will have everything ready
to begin to decipher.
5. Begin to decipher.
5.1 Prepare the data we want to decrypt
As we have a ceiling on the amount we can encrypt data, it is necessary
discard the parts of the hard drive that they do not.
For that we open the application by selecting the HDD of the PS3.
Select the disk that we want to extract. For example if you only want to extract
10Gb because we have formatted the drive and put:
Finally we click on the Extract button HDD data we ask for a folder
which to extract a file called "todojunto" containing only the data from the HDD (rule
sectors to zero). Along with this "todojunto" also appears that a todojunto.csv
contains information about the extracted data.
5.2 Decrypt data
To start we need to decipher the following:
- Image eraser + fakes written in the HDD of the PS3.
- Archive offsets.ofs resulting from the same image scanned in search of magic
blocks
- File "todojunto" we want to decipher.
Once we have all this ready just have to:
1. Open the program by selecting the physical hard disk of the PS3.
2. Click the button Crush data.
3. After you click that button, the program will request the file and offsets.ofs
file you want to decrypt. We hope to finish working.
4. When finished, connect the hard drive to the PS3 and copy the mp3 to a
USB for transfer to the PC.
Now we have the file "todojunto" deciphered but this cut in parts of 32MB. For
them together we will use the command line (MS-DOS).
Finally, to get the full picture of the hard disk decrypted must regenerate
todojunto.csv using the file we created the program to extract the encrypted data.
To do this go to Tools -> Regenerate RAW image
Image File select the entire file that we create.
File select the file offsets of terms extracted todojunto.csv these
same encrypted data.
Todojunto file is the file you just pasted using "copy / b *. mp3 todojunto"
Begin from the offset must specify the starting offset to put the extracting.
After all this we have the decoded image from your hard drive.
6. Code
6.1 Prepare the data we want to encrypt
To prepare you want to encrypt the data we need to do the same steps as for
decipher but checking the options:
6.2Encrypting data
Encrypting data is more complicated and has only been tested once successfully. To encrypt needed
have:
- Image eraser (no fakes)
- Archive offsets.ofs resulting from the same image scanned in search of magic
blocks
- File "todojunto" we want to encrypt
When we have all this:
1. We write the image eraser (no fakes) on the hard drive using WinHex or
similar.
2. We copy the parts of "todojunto" we want to encrypt Traps
the fakes to a USB. IMPORTANT NOTE: you must copy exactly the same
number of files you copy the first time we created the eraser + fakes. If
that the parties "todojunto" less than the fakes we fill
with fakes to have the same number.
3. Once you have copied the files to the HDD of the PS3, connect another hard drive
Once a PC.
In the box called Magic blocks:
1. Select the key.bin
2. Write the size of all parts of the "todojunto" we've gotten into bytes.
3. We click on Extract Data. We ask for the file and ask us offsets.ofs
to save.
4. Finally, regenerate the image in the same way we did to decipher.
