Post: Croverno01's Hacked Patch PKG
07-06-2010, 09:09 PM #1
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); OK, so I don't mean to raise a hate thread or anything but I did a bit of digging into Croverno01's "Hacked" MW2 PKG Patch that is supposedly nearly ready to just install on to PS3's through proxy apart from getting the checksum correct. I looked at it with a hex editor and then compared it to the actual MW2 PKG Patch. It is almost identical except from the ending. The ending is the same as a modded patch_mp.ff. This suggests that all Croverno01 has done is add the patch_mp.ff file on to the end of a normal pkg file by using a hex editor. I'm 99% sure this will NOT work! The pkg file is completely compressed to an extremely high degree, where as the ff file is not. Adding it on to the end of a pkg file will not work and I'm pretty sure Croverno01's PKG file will still not install even if the checksum is corrected. I have of course messaged Croverno01 asking him if this is how he did it and told him it will not work but have had no reply. I do not know if he genuinely did not know this method would not work or if he is making up porky pies in order to get some rep/thanks. All I know is that using Croverno01's patch will not work, even if he fixes the checksums. Croverno01 if you are sure that it works, please put up some proof but until then dont post stuff you have not tried.

Pkg files have a .self this is a map for what files get decompiled and to what ratio. Each file will be allocated a path. So the data is installed correctly and passes the many layers off security. By just adding a fastfile into an already compiled pkg with it's own checksum would have no chance of working for many reasons. There no path for the file. The checksum would never match a decompiled pkg. So bascilly the .ff would be a lost sole. Kicking off install errors

Any ideas on how to match the checksum?

Well first we still kinda need to figure out how to properly decompile the PKG file and then insert our codes and then fix checksum and recompile

Awesome i'll be sure to check that out. Is it the 1.11 patch you have modded or just the 1.10 for now?
