THE HDD MUST BE MORE THAN 17GB

ok instead of doing a data transfer, we could try back-up utility to our external, the simply plug this into pc/laptop

then look around the files looking for the patch_mp.ff

if we replace this using the iHC (commonly known xbox patch editor) with our created patch this should bypass the checksum a few people were getting stuck at, then restore our saved data from the external back to the PS3, i'm hoping this will include copying the modded/hacked patch

therefor allowing us to play using a modded patch online

WHICH EVERYONE DREAMS OF, I TRIED MYSELF BUT I DONT HAVE A BIG ENOUGH EXTERNAL HDD, MINES IS ONLY 16GB LOL

unfourtantley this wont work the backup files are in dat form and no one is posting a program to decrpyt these

This method probably wont work because u will get an error when u re-install ur backup and another error is that no-one has been able to decrypt the .dat backup files. so we are unable to edit it....
