(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Not too many people can be seen using LMGs these days, so I decided to make this guide, being that I am a self-proclaimed LMG expert

LMGs are categorized by large clips, damage, and RoF, but lack mobility and have slow reload times. This makes them ideal defense weapons. Defending an objective such as a flag or bomb is a great use for an LMG

PERKS:

TIER 1 (Blue):

Marathon: You're not Forrest Gump, and you shouldn't be running around with a defense oriented weapon

Scavenger: 200 rounds is plenty, this isn't necessary

Bling: Useful if you want grip with another attatchment

Sleight of Hand: Great to offset the high reload times of LMGs. Pro version helps too. Also the aim down sights is slow for light machine guns, so this helps speed it up a ton (pro version).

One Man Army: Pro version is about as fast as reloading with Sleight of Hand, but allows for unlimited refills of equipment. Using one man army pro is faster then reloading your light machine gun like the rpd and mg4.

TIER 2 (Red):

Cold-Blooded: Nice to have as a way to avoid killstreaks, but not as useful for LMGs as you won't be flanking much

Stopping Power: Turns the RPD, L86 LSW, and AUG HBAR into 2 shot kill weapons at all ranges. The MG4 and M240 become 3 shot kill weapons at all ranges.

Lightweight: While it seems to offset the low mobility of LMGs, it really isn't a good choice as you won't be moving much (See Marathon)

Danger Close: This is not a n00btube class, don't use this

Hardline: Not a bad choice if you feel you can function without Stopping Power and don't see much of a use for Cold-Blooded.

TIER 3 (Yellow/Green):

Scrambler: You can't be serious, right?

Ninja: Way to be sneaky with a 50 lb chunk of metal in your hands... not a great choice

Last Stand: Useful if you find yourself in a surprise CQC battle

Commando: See Last Stand

Sitrep: Pro version is great for hearing enemies who try to sneak up on you. However, chances are there will be too much background noise to hear them anyway, and you should not run into enemy claymores (it should be the other way around)

Steady Aim: See Commando

WEAPONS:

L86 LSW: Highest DPS of all LMGs, at the cost of having the highest recoil, making grip almost mandatory. L86 has a custom acog, called a SUSAT.

RPSad Awesome Personal favorite; Great iron sights, tied with the AUG HBAR for DPS, moderately high recoil, grip recommended but not necessary

AUG HBAR: Essentially an RPD with slightly more accuracy, a smaller clip and a smaller reload time.

MG4: Lowest DPS, highest reload time, but lowest recoil. Not so great, but incredibly accurate.

M240: Fires slightly faster than the MG4, but slightly less accurate. Meh.

ATTACHMENTS:

Grip: Great attachment; increases accuracy, always a good decision (just like that beer that escapes me at the moment...)

RDS: Learn to use the iron sights and save yourself the slot for something else

Holo sight: See RDS

Silencer: REDUCES DAMAGE BY 10 POINTS! BIG NO NO!

HBS: Not a bad choice, gives you a heads up against people not using Ninja

ACOG: Creates recoil. Usable on the MG4 w/grip, but not on other LMGs

Thermal Scope: See ACOG

FMJ: More damage through walls, nice to know your enemies have nowhere to hide... MUAHAHAHAHAHA

Extended Mags: For the Rambo in you. Not necessary (except maybe for the AUG HBAR) but not a bad idea either.

TACTICS:

Keep in mind one thing: your job is to defend any key choke points or objectives. I recommend using C4 or Claymores to hold off enemies from one entrance to an area while spraying hot lead into anyone stupid enough to come from the other entrance. Always stay behind some sort of cover to make it harder to be shot. Keep track of enemy movements, try to anticipate where the battle is moving and prepare for the incoming attack. Examples of key points in objective modes include places like the hallway in the center of Terminal, the hallway in the center of Skidrow, the cliff on Afghan (where 'C' would be in domination), etc. These are all high traffic areas. It's points like these that should have you smiling. When the battle starts occurring in one of these areas, just plant a claymore behind you to take care of flankers, and ADS while behind cover and see how stupid people can be by coming from the same route over and over and over...

EXAMPLE:

RPD w/grip
None (OMA)

Claymore
Stun x2

OMA
SP
SA

Domination on Afghan. Your team starts at 'B.' You run to 'C' and plant a claymore behind you and crouch behind the artillery cannon thing. The enemy team starts to come, thinking they can take the objective. How wrong they are. With two shot kills, a 100 round clip, 3 sec reloads, a high RoF, and decent cover, its near impossible for them to penetrate your line of defense. This is the mindset you need as an LMG user. You have to take an overwatch role, and you will decimate the enemy team. It's a different playstyle than most people are used to, but is incredibly effective.

Hope this guide helped!

i disagree man, i think the lmg's are more camping and defensive guns, so you will not be moving around a lot and should not be, so things like stopping power are much better as it is a 2 hit kill from anywhere, as well hardline since lmg's are so powerful you can use hardline to make your kill streak rewards 1 less kill, or even cold blooded

Once again another great guide although i like this one more than the ranger guide, because i rarely use LMG's, but when i do it's the L86.

Haxor!
Nice guide, I like it when I see a good player using LMG's, as opposed to the noobs who use them.
