(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Over 20 million Call of Duty map packs have been snapped up life-to-date, according to Activision.

The success of the franchise's online modes - gamers are said to have racked up 1.7 billon hours of CoD online play between November 2009 and April 2010 - has seen Activision CEO Bobby Kotick express his desire to launch a subscription offering for the series.

While Activision has said that it has "no plans to charge gamers to play Call of Duty multiplayer", some are expecting the company to launch a premium multiplayer service later this year offering extra features not available to players who play online for free.

"The Call of Duty franchise is unique in the world of entertainment and delivers one of the best multiplayer experiences ever," said Kotick.

"We are thrilled to deliver to fans exciting and engaging content that has the intensity they have come to expect from the franchise."

f that give it to america if you indy are an american citizen you should be ashamed of yourself. because this country needs the relief from fixing everyones elses countries

The premium membership isn't going to be too bad right? I mean, it's not like they could care about us less? and with them actually paying attention to people paying money, some updates and patches might just pop up for the rest of us
