Instead of looking in and around Modern Warfare 2. Why not take a look into the system itself and what all the PS3 Hacking teams have done in the last 3 Years.

That should easily get you on the right track.

With TheUnkn0wn's recent bit of advice, and going through several older threads I came across this quote from hunter:

Has anybody done this on firmware 3.30? I'm able to do it on 3.15 and 3.21 but on FW 3.30 i can't find the dummy data ANYWERE every sector is different including the first sectors unlike my other 2 ps3's the beggining sectors where all the same.

The reason why i want to know is because i have working modded game patches, and i want to be able to do this on my other ps3 i can go online with, but 3.30 just seems like they might have fixed this... All the data is just scattered though out the whole hdd every sector is different.

Then he later replied with:

I don't think it does, i found the dummy data then did everything else when it came time to copy the music file[/I][/U] back to the ext hdd you get a copy error or it copies everything but the data you want.

-----

Maybe there is an exploit or something within the music tab on the PS3 menu.

I don't know if this seems logic, or if it has been posted before. But it has been dwelling on my mind for quite a while, and I thought it was time to share my thoughts.

Wutz n MW2?
The .MP3 exploit is similar to using the TIFF exploit, or libtiff. Not really useful as far as I'm aware.

All it does is create a buffer overflow, nothing really "exploitable."

I'm trying my hand at the Backup exploit. But I need to understand the Archive.DAT stuff first.

Feelin' Fine.
Just because we got stuck with The PS3 system tampering doesn't mean we have to stop..
We can all expand our theory's, Even though we may not be able to figure out whats next.. we can always think of other ways. And especially relate to unkn0wns quotes or hunters.. PKG's may not be the way.. but the mp3 exploit.. may be old.. but if there's a exploit around there we could probably go further than usual and tamper with it. See what we get.

There also could be other ways to enter the ps3 system data..
who knows?
