You have it wired wrong OR something else is wrong, it shouldn't do that at all..

Go to your audio settings and choose both option.
I highly recommend putting duck tape around where the wires go into and out of the amplifier.
Especially the one from the headset to the amp.
The wire in the amp comes loose and headphone speakers go out.
