I think you need to install the mic in Windows, record it by using a program like Audacity and then import it into Vegas. I only used Vegas once so I don't really know.

my mic is fine it works perfectly just sony vegas wont register it.

Try and avoid recording your voice outside of vegas, you'll have to piss about with timing if you do that.
