Such has where it thinks your on the 3.42 FM but your actually on the 3.41..I've been thinking that's what hunter and the unknown did..not sure..

Yes it does. This could work but also alot can go wrong with it, costuming firmware is not easy.

You can make a lobby just by replacing the patch_mp.ff via FTP and updating, but you won't be able to have the original, and you won't be able to edit anything anymore.

Dude we are talking about firmware and when we edit a piece of firmware away original its called "custom firmware".

if you install bad fw on your ps3 it is not necessarly bricked.

You can put it in "Safe Mode" and do an update from there.
