You cannot downgrade from 3.42, nor can you jailbreak on 3.42.. Best bet is to go buy another ps3, jailbreak it, get the patch on there, make sure its working, then transfer that data to your main ps3.

Then take the new ps3, do a system restore, then bring it back to the store.
