Try jailbreaking your PS3 before deleting and installing a new patch. Then after you downloaded and installed the patch, quit game and goto the PS3 FTP server and do the rest as per the tuts.

Ok so i JB and put Godly Modz patch on, It works with the JB activated but not when its deactivated, I was told theyre supposed to work with or without JB activated, Anyone know?
