Can you out a modded patch on ps3 using back up and restore utility?

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); can you use the back up utility to back up a 3.41 ps3 with a modded patch onto a usb stick and then restore the back up on to the update (3.50) ps3?

so, if it was a back up from a 3.50 system could you find+replace the patch in a hex editor then save it and restore it back to the ps3 it originated from?
