Yes it will work if you have a ps3 on version 3.41 but if you update it to 3.50 you cant install a new patch but if you have 2 ps3s then use data transfer utility to do this you need an Ethernet cable,

Sorry your ps3 firmware has to be on 3.41 in order to jailbreak your ps3 ,but soon there releasing a new way to jailbreak on 3.50.
