(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); so I have 2 ps3`s slim but both are with latest firmware. I am only interested in challenge lobbys. I know that presently 3.50 cannot be downgraded to 3.41 and that the jailbreak does not work with 3.50.

If I had to change the Harddrive to a brand new one of the ps3 will that get me to put 3.41 ? what specs are the HD of the PS3 and which one from this site do you recommend me to buy if this process is possible ?

No HDD swapping will not work. as PS3 firmware is mainly stored on the motherboard not the harddrive

are you sure ? I thought that was for the older version and not the slim version of the ps3

have read on other forum that after replacing the HDD on a slim you can update firmware via USB and format the new drive always with internet connection disconnected from ps3....but dont know if its feasable

Tried it no good, I have a 3.41 and a 3.50 and the drives aren't interchangeable between the two.

Interestingly a fresh drive installed into a 3.41 will format and install on it's own, whereas a frsh drive in a 3.50 system needs the 3.50 update on a USB drive/flash/memory card before you can format and install.

Sorry to say but as already stated the FW is stored in the NAND not the HD. Unless some one comes up with a program that runs from a PC to a PS3 and somehow makes the PS3 think it's running 3.41 then I don't see how a downgrade is possible "YET" but I am sure people are working on this as we speak so give it some time.

This will not work , PS3 firmware is stored in the nand. So the only way is dumping the nand using a chip which is not possible till now.

Dumping it is very possible always. But it gets you no where.
