look at the data sheets. on the 40 and 80 some firmware blocks are stored at start of drive.

you can remove the nand(s) dependent on model with a hot air station. and theres readers avalible. pretty pointless tho. you can also have an infectus modchip installed. ppl say it dont work now. but it does edit *it was patched for backing up/flashing firmware but sti;ll good for having a nosey around the ram ;-)
