The patch IS for MW2, you mod/edit it from your computer and then send it to your PS3.
Currently, there is no jailbreak for the 3.50 PS3, but if you have someone with 3.41 PS3 then you can have the patch sent to your PS3.

To send the patch to a ps3 you will need a ps3 on fw 3.41
Then you will need a jailbreak device; iphone 3g, 1st gen ipod touch, ti-84( or others you will have to google)
Then you will need to download a few programs which you can google or search the forum for.
Then after you have the original patch on your ps3, you will need to find a modded patch that is online that you can FTP to your ps3 that is jailbroken
Then you test the patch to see if it works, if it does you do a data transfer from the 3.41 ps3 to the 3.50 ps3
Then you will be able to see if the patch works on your 3.50 ps3, which it should if done riite
Then you have yourself a modded patch on both ps3s and can go online and start CLs on your 3.50 ps3.
On how to do this, you will have to google or search yourself as i have provided a good amount of info for you

The original patch is the 1.11 which is IW's patch for MW2 to play games online without challenge lobbies, the modded patch is also the 1.11 patch but this modded one will allow you to host challenge lobbies. Im not sure if theres really any other way to explain this.
