So I am trying to edit Mossysfunctions.gsc. All I want to do is change the custom class names when someone chooses that option. However, no matter how many times I change it, It just wont work! I edit Mossysfunctions, put it back in the patch, then install the patch. I start up mw2, hit start, then as soon as I hit Multiplayer it goes straight to a black screen. I tried using the patch without editing Mossyfunctions and it works perfectly. There must be something I'm doing wrong. See is you notice any errors.
This is what I do...
1. Extract 00014f51.dat and 00024ef6.dat from patch_mp.ff
2. Open up 00014f51.dat and copy and paste FD18-FFFF into a new file.
3. Open up 00024ef6.dat and copy and paste Length: 1546 to the new file and save it as _mossysfunctions.gsc
4. Decompress _mossysfunctions.gsc and open 00000002.dat
5. Change the Class names to what my friend wants them to be and save 000000002.dat
6. Recompress 00000002.dat to _mossysfunctions_recomp.gsc
7. Edit the header of _mossysfunctions_recomp.gsc to 78 DA
8. Go to the last offset (which was 2226)
9. Search for offset 2226 on _mossysfunctions.gsc
10. Copy from offset 2226 to the end and paste onto the end of the _recomp
11. Highlight from FF FF FF FF to where I pasted it and "fill section" and save
12. Copy and paste FD18-FFFF onto FD18-FFFF on 00014f51.dat
12. Change the file size on offset FCEF and save
13. Paste the rest of mossysfunctions onto Length: 1F46 of 0002ef6.dat and save.
14. Put 00014f51.dat and 0002ef6.dat back into the patch.
Heres the edit I made in Mossysfunctions
