DO SOMETHING THEN!

Ok, because the only things ENZO-F edited when he made his patch were the missions, the dd, the class, and mossysfunctions. So, I have my own edit of ENZO-F v2 (Xbox version). All you have to do is open my patch in ff viewer and delete everything for the missions, dd, class, and mossysfunctions and replace it with your own missions, dd, class, and mossysfunctions.

Wow, think you could do that then? Can I have the Xbox version then please? Winky Winky

Yea well I just read a thread by ENZO-F and he had the same issue editing Mossysfunctions. For some reason, it just doesn't want to work. As far as I know he hasnt found a solution.

I know what the problem is. Each GSC has a maximum file size and if exceeds to that, it will not read the GSC. The file will be too big and you will get a black screen. FFViewer has this thing on the bottom that numbers go up and down depending on what you're doing and the maximum file size.

So I am trying to edit Mossysfunctions.gsc. All I want to do is change the custom class names when someone chooses that option. However, no matter how many times I change it, It just wont work! I edit Mossysfunctions, put it back in the patch, then install the patch. I start up mw2, hit start, then as soon as I hit Multiplayer it goes straight to a black screen. I tried using the patch without editing Mossyfunctions and it works perfectly. There must be something I'm doing wrong. See is you notice any errors.
This is what I do...
1. Extract 00014f51.dat and 00024ef6.dat from patch_mp.ff
2. Open up 00014f51.dat and copy and paste FD18-FFFF into a new file.
3. Open up 00024ef6.dat and copy and paste Length: 1546 to the new file and save it as _mossysfunctions.gsc
4. Decompress _mossysfunctions.gsc and open 00000002.dat
5. Change the Class names to what my friend wants them to be and save 000000002.dat
6. Recompress 00000002.dat to _mossysfunctions_recomp.gsc
7. Edit the header of _mossysfunctions_recomp.gsc to 78 DA
8. Go to the last offset (which was 2226)
9. Search for offset 2226 on _mossysfunctions.gsc
10. Copy from offset 2226 to the end and paste onto the end of the _recomp
11. Highlight from FF FF FF FF to where I pasted it and "fill section" and save
12. Copy and paste FD18-FFFF onto FD18-FFFF on 00014f51.dat
12. Change the file size on offset FCEF and save
13. Paste the rest of mossysfunctions onto Length: 1F46 of 0002ef6.dat and save.
14. Put 00014f51.dat and 0002ef6.dat back into the patch.

Heres the edit I made in Mossysfunctions

    funcClassNames()
{
self setPlayerData( "customClasses", 0, "name", "^2THANK" );
self setPlayerData( "customClasses", 1, "name", "^3--------" );
self setPlayerData( "customClasses", 2, "name", "^4--------" );
self setPlayerData( "customClasses", 3, "name", "^5BLiiNDNot Happy or SadME" );
self setPlayerData( "customClasses", 4, "name", "^6--------" );
self setPlayerData( "customClasses", 5, "name", "^3--------" );
self setPlayerData( "customClasses", 6, "name", "^2AKA" );
self setPlayerData( "customClasses", 7, "name", "^3--------" );
self setPlayerData( "customClasses", 8, "name", "^4--------" );
self setPlayerData( "customClasses", 9, "name", "^5PSMODDER" );
self iPrintln( "^3You now have coloured class names" );
self thread funcClasses();
}

You cannot edit the PS3 Patch like that.
You must get BuCN Xbox to PS3.

Edit the Xbox
Convert it to ps3

Then bamm it works

I don't mean to be rude or anything. But can people stop replying to a post that is 3 weeks old. I have obviously solved the problem by now and there is no need to reply.

You have over excited the limit for the file size. Get the xbox version of the patch, and when you click mossysfunctions, you'll see like old file size: 1292 or w/e it is. Then the new file size: 1287 or w/e. Make sure it doesn't pass the limit of 1292.
