Post: Possible ways to install patches without having 3.41?
12-11-2010, 04:49 AM #1
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); 1. I'm kinda n00b here but, wouldn't it be possible to create a backup of your PS3 to a portable hard drive. Transfer the patch to the the backup. Then bring the modified backup back to PS3?

2. Also couldn't you take the hard drive out of the PS3, plug it into the computer using a USB adapter, transfer the patch, then put the hard drive back into the PS3?

EDIT:
so basically what I am saying is:

1.Can you back up your ps3, mod the backup, then restore it and have it work?

2. could you use a usb to serial ata adapter/hard drive dock to put the modded patch right onto the hard drive itself?

If you would have searched the forums, then you would have realised these methods are not possible.

There is a way to do it on 3.55 (my way) but i am NOT releasing due to sony fixing the exploit that i use. I am *NOT* risking that Smile

Backup just works for the same Ps3 if you want to transfer the mw2 patch
if you try the backup with a other ps3 it will not work because the game data files are not transferred (if that would work, everybody could get map packs and other things for free)

I am not transferring from one PS3 to another, I am only using one PS3. I am backing up my ps3 (non modded), modifying the backup on the computer, (putting the custom patch onto the backup), then restoring the backup (with the custom patch) back to the PS3.

i havent really tried but I was thinking you could just plug the portable hard drive into your computer and do it like that? There is a way to view hidden files/folders. But I guess sony is smart and somehow not allowed you yo modify the backup. Iunno, that is what I was thinking, just modify the backup of the ps3.

would you release it after a later update?

so that some lucky few may be able to do it before they update?

What elitemossy is saying is, they don't know about his way, and he plans on keeping it that way, so they don't update and fix it.

true true, but what I was saying, if they happen to somehow patch it in the next update. he could release his method so that the people could use it before they update.
