Do you have Nat-Type open?

You atleast need a decent connection and make sure your NAT is open.

private match -> admin/host menu -> force host, ranked match -> leave lobby -> make party (big party better ) -> search for online games

if it doesnt work:
-your party is too small (try with 6 or 9 people)
-invite people to lobby...
-return to mw2 menu -> go online (load 'clean' playlist...) and start from the beginning

i usually just just go to force host, then ranked match, then end the game.... then go into a free for all and everyone joins! lol
