Throw your PC at a wall, then turn it on, and it should work. If it doesn't.. Get a mac.

when you open a patch in .ff viewer it needes to be converted to an xbox patch if its not it wont open, to convert your patch to xbox find "MW2 Patch Converter by BuC-ShoTz" the new one btw and open your patch in it and click convert then go and edit the converted patch in .ff then open that program again and convert it back to xbox and rename it to patch_mp
