You can use the patch you have on you just need to be host online for your lobby to work

so more or less just jump around lobbys till i find one that im host of ?

Just set force host option,

Then when you select online game the moment it starts, vote to change map, if at the 10 second count down your vote still applies then your host, otherwise back out an try again.
