I know I'm probably going to get flamed because there are lots of MW2 h4x haters out there, but just because there are also a lot of kids on this site who DO hack MW2 and ARE interested in hacks for it, I'm going to post this. Sorry in advance if it's in the wrong section. I don't believe this has been posted yet, but if it has, feel free to close this thread.
Basically, what's going to happen, is a new MW2 patch will be released, erasing the hacks from people's systems. (Better late than never, I guess)
The patch has already been written (this has been confirmed by fourzerotwo), they're just in the final stages of tweaking it.
Apart from the fact that it will be erasing the hacks, the other main issues it will be addressing will be the Fuel rock glitch, slightly decreasing Commando range, nerfing the Tar slightly, and possibly fixing the spawns a bit. To quote fourzerotwo, "OMA will not be tweaked. We've fought that fight and lost."
A quick bio on who fourzerotwo is, for those of you who don't know:
Robert Bowling, also known by his username fourzerotwo or 402, is Infinity Ward's Creative Strategist, formerly Community Manager. Any official information regarding Infinity Ward's games in the Call of Duty franchise is released through him.
We should expect to see this patch out within the next few weeks.. but who knows, if the suddenness of 3.56 OFW was anything to go by, it could be by the end of the week

the update could be for their servers as well, so even if you ftp a patch on to the new one the servers could read it as modified or corrupted and overwrite your gamedata to legit? bypassing would just lead you to old closed servers and to play online u needa update to latest patch on new servers?

MW2 isn't so bad with the hacks, its when people start de-ranking and running round with god mode thinking they're pro. I normally turn domination into Roll The Dice and everyone has a laugh and nobody usaully leaves.
Dude all people have to do is use a proxy server bypass for that new update and just use the old patch and get on the game. Its not hard at all. And plus there are many people who code mw2 patches im sure it will be fine for a week at the most and that game will be hacked again.
Yes a proxy bypass would work assuming you have a backup of the current MW2 patch to use while bypassing. If they did a simple update of the patch we could make an old patch usable by just copying the missions.gsc to the new updated patch. I have a feeling that they may add some kind of checksum to patch_mp.ff that and if the checksum doesnt match a clean patch_mp.ff will be copied making any hacks unusable. Similar to the way EBOOT works for Blackops. Hopefully this will be the case as it will allow me to have a decent game of MW2 for a while hehe. If they did checksum applying the hacks will be a lot harder as the checksum will need to be bypassed.

what exactly does nerfing the tar mean, and a proxy can get around the tar patch update
they had checksums for cod4 too right? if u mod the savedata gpado_mp thing whatever it was called it got overwritten? and if you used a proxy then ul only be able to play with those who also are using proxy's?

u are 100% correct, its only a matter of time before its hacked again, IW sucks at patching
