I was just wondering, where would I put the 'patch_mp.ff' file?

Well there's no way of getting a modded patch on your PS3 without jailbreaking.
You need two PS3s, one on 3.41 firmware and one on 3.56 (or newest) firmware. You will also need a device to jailbreak the 3.41 and compatible devices can be found You must login or register to view this content.. I jailbroke my PS3 without a hassle and it didn't brick my console.
If you need any more help I'll gladly provide it.

First, You have to Jailbreak your PS3. But it has to be on 3.55 to start.
Second, Get File Manager (if you have a usb) or FTP (if you dont have a usb but pc) then go search google and get a FTP Client (recommend FileZilla)
Third, Replace the patch using one of those homebrew applications and your good

How to Conver the Patch
Just search NGU for BuC-ShoTz Connverter....
its the fastest and easier also best patch converter for all regions also consoles..

Thanks for the help, unfortunately my console is on the latest fw (3.56) but my brother has 3.55, but he won't be willing to help me JB his console. Meh.

you dont need a ps3 on 3.41! data transfer has been patched anyway so theres currently no way to replace a patch and go online, we will have to wait for 3.56 cfw
