... I think your missing the whole geohot thing.

He bought a Ps3 because it offered this option(Option being Linux on Ps3). Sony deleted that option(Which is not right, because he bought that product for Linux.). So GeoHot rightfully modded the system to get the option that he paid for back on his Ps3.

This is nothing like geohots case. This is just leeching/leaking/dbaging...
