MELEE / SHIELDS

Combat Knife

Combat knifes, is a knife designed for primarily military use. They come in all shapes and sizes and aswell as being used for combat, many are also able to be used in survival situations. Certain knifes are able to be used as bayonets aswell as a secondary function. Knifes are essential in CQB (close quarters battle) and used when you are literally face to face with the enemy and are not able to use your firearm or when you need to dispose of an enemy, quickly and quitely to maintain stealth. An example of a fmaous combat knife is the KA-BAr (as shown below) which is the standard issue knife to the US Marine Corps.

Ice Axe

Ice Axes are used most commonly in mountaineering, aspecially at higher altitudes and locations where there is a lot of ice. they are usually made of steel, aluminium or titanium or alloys of these to produce a llight but extremely strong tool.
the axes themselves consist of a head which has a strong serated blade and a spike at the bottom of the handle.

Ballistic Shields

Ballistic Shields aka Tactical Shields are shields normally made of a variety of materials including steel and titanium (older versions) and more commonly now various polymers.
These are extremely heavy therefore their use is limited altough they play a key role in tactical CQB situations and are implemented by various forces and teams including SWAT. Pistols are the most commonly used weapons while wielding a Ballistic shield due to one hand being occupied in holding the shield and are used by the person who enters a enemy held position first as he will provide protection to all those behind.

SCOPES

ACOG Scope

ACOG or Advanced Combat Optical Gunsights are a range of sights manufactures by Trijicon for use on fire arms, mainly assault rifles and carbines including AR-15 variants. These can be provide a range of magnification from 1.5 - 6X.
These are all battery free as they rely on natural light but in low light situations they can be illuminated using small bulbs inside the scope.

Thermal Scope

Thermal Imaging Scopes are also rail mounted and are similar to night vision scopes except these detect heat signatures. They detect thermal radiation given off by virtualy everything but intensify those given off by humans, vehicles and aircraft. These have the ability to penetrate light material and can be used to see through smoke. They are used by planes and helicopters to identify targets such as tanks on the gound from higher altitudes.

Eotech Hologram Site

Eotech is a company which has been making optical gunsights for military, law enforcement and in some cases civilian use. These are mounted on gun rails and come in a variety of models. Most commonly, the Holographic sites are used for CQB therefore do not have magnification. Some are available which features such as nightvision and magnification.
They have been adopted by many forces and squadrons including SWAT and military squadrons.

Red Dot Site

Very similar to ACOG scopes except these have the sole purpose of making aiming easier and faster, without providing magnification. These are normally use with battery powered lasers to produce the 'dot'.

ATTACHMENTS

Masterkey

A masterkey is a shotgun mounted under the barrel of an assault rifle with primary purpose of breaching doors. Before these were invented, soldiers who needed door breaching capability had to carry a seperate shotgun around or use an alternative method such as breaching charges, battering rams or kicking / using bodyweight to get through the door, all of which had severe disadvantages.
The original masterkey was the KAC Masterkey (as shown below) produced in the 80s which was a Remington 870 12-gauge with no stock and very small barrel (didnt matter as breaching took place and extremely close range) which had the ability to carry 3 rounds internally with 1 round in the breach so a total of four at a time.
This was then replaced by the M26 Modular Accessory Shotgun System which is still in service today. This is also a 12 gauge but has a 5 round detachable magazine and can fire buckshot, slugs and non-lethal ammunition.
