Want to command an AC-130 gunship? Of course you do.
The Official Xbox 360 magazine (UK) had some fresh info on the co-op Spec Ops mode, which is getting a lot of attention at the moment.
When I watched it being played at Gamescom, Infinity Ward weren't too forthcoming about how many levels Spec Ops mode would have. According to the magazine, there will be 5 missions open to start with, each with 3 difficulty levels. Completing the different difficulties will award you between 1 and 3 stars and by collecting stars you will unlock new groups of levels. The first 5 are the Alpha levels and you work your way through Bravo all the way to Echo. Both players will need to have unlocked each level if they want to buddy up.
There were a few other tantalising snippets from their feature. There is the exciting prospect of some missions requiring you hold out against waves of enemies using claymores and sniper rifles (horde mode?). When I previewed the game, I pondered how cool it would be if co-op featured the AC-130. OXM confirmed that you would indeed get to sit in the gunship. You support your co-op partner as they desperately try not to get annihilated by your helpful firestorm.
Well I'm quite excited by all that
