now i thought nothing of what happened until my mate told me his 360 failed recently too, with the same problem, The disk drive making weird noises too then stopped working altogther

so 2 people having the same problem isnt anything new is it, however, it all happened after we got MW2 (my drive started making noises the 1st time i put it in the drive n it tried reading it)

now i know what your thinking, just coincidence, however, after looking on ebay (and contacting the 50+ sellers) aswell as looking online, ive noticed its all coincided with playing MW2

has anyone else on NGU had problems with 360 failing with MW2 aswell? or is it all just strange coincidence?

Dude didn't you learn to copy the game into your hardrive and play it off your harddrive!!
Well anyways it's just a strange coincidence. Maybe due to the game barely coming out and you guys playing non stop for days...

didnt think i needed 2, plus it wouldnt make a difference, games still need to be read before they can run from the hard drive anyways mate, so i woulda be screwed either way

and i didnt play non stop for days, didnt have the energy lol

I have found the answer to why a lot of people are getting the 3 red rings and having to send their Xbox 360 in!!!!!!!!

I went to Gamestop just looking around today 11/14/09 and I told the guy that I bought MW2 and that my MW2 was freezing at 1:30 am, so I let my Xbox rest for the night thinking it would be fine in the morning, but it wasn't. It kept freezing and finally I got the 3 red rings.

He said the soder in the Xbox melts and screws up the motherboard. He also said that Microsoft knew this was going to be a problem(modern warfare 2 overheating and melting). They have tried to fix it, but they could not get it to.

Gamestop had a brand new Xbox 360 Elite right out of the box get the 3 red rings from MW2.

I recommend not playing it for more than maybe 8 hours or you may have this problem.

DO NOT TRY TO FIX THIS YOURSELF IT IS IMPOSSIBLE! DO NOT TAKE IT APART IT COULD ERASE YOUR WARRANTY FOREVER!

Everyone knows this. Habve you ever seen a PS3 freeze and melt down? No, atleast I haven't.

I would still do it just in case. Also it only reads the disk in the beginning so even if its scratched you can still play it AND it won't be reading the disc while you play so that annoying noise won't be heard especially when everyone is sleeping...
