(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Ok so after Cod4 i was wondering why IW hadn't relisied yet thats its stupid to hold everything in the save. So i began to think about it and research the problem. I also have relised why people copyright the gamesaves , and also why PSN gamessaves hold so little. Ok there are two types of storage on the ps3 . Hard Drive and Blu ray. The hard drive is able to bridge information to processors at 20mb/s compaired to 9mb/s (mb/s = Megabytes per second) Ok for example in KillZone 2 in that second to the SPU processor it had to stream Animation , AI Threat prediction , AI Line of fire , AI Obstacle avoidance , Collision detection , Physics , Particle simulation , Particle rendering , Scene graph , Display list building , IBL Light probes , Grapics post-processing , Dynamic music system , Skinning , MP3 Decompression , Edge Zlib , etc. A total of 44 jobs to just one of the PS3 cell processors. The problem with some of the cells is they have queues. For example on KIllzone2 the had both the Dynamic Music Player which allowed us to player our music while playing Killzone2 and it still played the Killzone 2 's libary behind it. in that one second that 9mbs of data which bridged from the blu ray disc to the cell processors the MP3 had to of already be proccesed and be playing as the killzone mp3 had be buffered from the disc all the data built up and played. This is why not many Blu Ray games other than PSN games can play HD music. Now you may be saying ok fraz , What the hell does this have to do with Call of Duty then ? Ok simple. Call of Duty couldn't possibly keep seding about 88kb to the processor with the gamesave to keep all the values correct. Modern Warfare 2 does have a small install and some data is kept in it for example there will be Loading screens etc. Things that will always come up and could be skipped. The gamesave holds data for missions and online to keep the steady stream of information flowing and stop it queueing up as once a conflict in the processors are conflicted they stop till all data is collected. So online for example of the data is held in the severs but most is held in the gamesave to have a steady strem of information. The easiest example of this i can think of is single player. In the CoD4 gamesvae it held enemy weapon data aswell as friendly weapon data and set pieces for example waves of enemys.inthe 9mb which the Blu Ray Disc cachies a huge portion would be weapon rendoring, Enemy Firing Line and Enemy AI Obstical awareness. So weapons which dont change are held on the gamesave. But things which do such as anamation and Enemy AI stream. So if the future as games become more and more advanced in Animation and AI gamesaves will be getitng bigger and holding even more values for hackers like me to get our dirty fingers on :P.

i Hope this helps you understand what goes on in your PS3 and gamesave and why they are used Smile.

There is a lot in there to take in but i get what you are saying, the bigger the game grows, the more variables they will stick into the gave save and we can get our hands on. But the thing is, with the new data transfer between PS3s, it may not be possible to put it on a memory stick in future games, we shall just have to wait and see.

becuase that would take a whole load of space up and i dont think the PS3 OS can run that.
