Easy Lag Utility v1.0

The Original
For XBOX/PS3 and wired/wireless connections!

This is a simple program that I made during the last couple of days which will lag your connection on command. It is user-friendly, and has some nice features I thought might be useful to people who are more focused on their gameplay rather than dedicating all their attention to the program.

Important Note:
This is most useful when you are host, being a client to the game will not help you with lag, it just makes you lock up for an easy target. This program may not work on all connections, especially those with high or low bandwidths You may need to drastically boost the instances value to get an effect on these larger connections. Certain connections have very good stability which makes it very hard to create lag on this connections from the inside.

Features:

  • Pre-compiled list of target to ping, plus the option to enter your own target
  • Option to specify the amount of pingers to run (For more lag intensity)
  • Option to specify the size of the packets being sent
  • Hotkey to to start/stop lag (F1 to F12)
  • Auto-end lagging when specified time runs out
  • Option to chose voice or beep notification when lag time is out

How To:

  1. Select a target address from the 'Ping Target' dropdown (Any address will do. The only reason there are multiple addresses to pick from is in case one doesn't work.)
  2. Select a packet size to be pinged to the target from 'Packet Size' in the 'Transfer Settings' box (60000-65500 is recommended)
  3. Specify the amount of pingers to run from 'Instances' in the 'Transfer Settings' box (10-15 is recommended)
  4. Click 'Options' and configure any extra feature or settings you would like to configure (Optional)

FAQ:

  • What address do I put into the target box?

    • You may choose any address given to you in the target box's dropdown list. If an address doesn't give you lag, you may need to try another address.
    • Do not put your computer's IP in the box. You won't do anything except flood your computer, and that's no good...

  • I don't lag when I click the Start button!

    • While using the lag program, try to looking at a killcam from another player. If you see yourself lagging while they were killing you, then it works and you never had a problem to begin with! Happy
    • If you didn't see any lag while watching the killcam, you may need to increase the "Instances" value. This will effectively multiply the amount of pings that you are sending, therefore increasing lag.

  • Other machines on my network are lagging or disconnecting while using the lag tool!

    • Try shortening the time you lag your connection. If it still persists, try lowering the packet size and instance values.
    • If you still have an issue with this, maybe your connection is too small to handle this problem, though I doubt many people will get to this point. If this happens, please give me a PM and we'll work it out.

  • After stopping the lag program, I am still lagging or have a slow connection!

    • On your PS3, go to 'Network Settings", select your connection type, select "Easy" and proceed through the settings.
    • Try restarting both your console and PC.
    • If you are still experiencing lag or slow connection, reset both your router and modem by holding down the reset button for at least 30 seconds. If you still have problems after, your ISP may have a traffic limit on their customers and you could just be under that limit for a certain time period.
    • If after 24 hours, and you still experience lagging issues, please talk with me over PM. Although, most people have resolved their issue by restarting their networking equipment.

  • I still have a problem that wasn't addressed in the thread or this FAQ!

    • If you still have a problem, please PM me and we will work together to try to resolve the problem.

The way he uses the raw sockets(if he infact does as idk as this isnt open source) then the method that uses to send them is not properly working or its in another function and has to wait for the return when you stop the program.

How do you know which IP is for which person? :O
01-03-2010, 04:06 PM #59
Just to clear up some misconceptions.

You do not need to put other players IP addresses in the target box. Simply just select one from the dropdown until you find one that suits your connections.

This works in the same manner as a DoS program, but on a much smaller scale.

If you don't get lag, look at a killcam like others have said. You may not immediately notice the lag affect you, but others might.

If you still don't notice lag after watching a killcam, then you may need to change your packet size and instance settings. If that still doesn't resolve the problem, please PM me and we will work together to fix the problem.

its for you(localhost) so its your IP like Ive said above. Now on the other note, most connections today will demise the POD(Ping of Death is what your thinking) and its USELESS to try and ddos others with this unless they have dial-up or weaker dsl.

Added a note stating that some connections may not be affected by this program at all or unless the instances value is turned up to a ridiculously high value.

Fefantom just you cant get it to work doesnt mean its a bad program. NO you dont need any proxy or ANYTHING. Just start it. Its not ment to make u godlike it just lags you.

As I said before, watch the killcams and your guy will be lagging pretty badly. If not, crank up the instances value until u see an effect.

Climbing up the ladder
I would say this is pretty useless unless you are host. In this game series and being p2p, if you are not host you will NEVER have any lag advantage. I have tried at least 200 different lag methods and combination's and NONE of them work when you are not host and benefits the enemy more than it does you. You and ONLY you lag and the rest can easily kill you while you cannot touch them. As your hits only register when you manage to get them successfully sent to the host.

IW has some pretty amazing anti-cheat stuff going on with this game, making it 99% impossible to use lag to your advantage unless your host. It seems there is no 'buffer' with your shots, which is why the lag on this game is so horrible. Because if you lag only a little while shooting somebody, only the packets that make it are registered as a hit. The times you did hit the person but got lost packets or whatsoever aren't stored in the PS3. With a game like KZ2, shots were stored in the PS3 in the cache/buffer/ram thing and sent out as soon as the connection was good enough. This does not happen in MW2 if you are not host.

If you are host, shorting out the TX/RX is MUCH better especially when used in conjunction with a 555 timer. I used to have tons of fun doing this in KZ2. I loved how I could customize my lag by changing the way I shorted out the wires.

1st method - I would stand still to enemy while they moved for me.

2nd method - The enemy would stand still to me but I would still be moving to them. (my preferred method cause they never knew I was lagging).

3rd method - Everybody is at a stand still. I am 'stuck' to them an they are 'stuck' to me. This is the common lag switch method cause most people do not know about the shorting method. They just know about the 'cutting the orange wire' method.

4th method - This one was interesting, everybody would still be moving (I would to them and they would to me) but all shots and anything but pure movement was stopped. So everybody could move, but everything was dead silent and gunshots/explosions stopped completely.

KZ2 was such a easy game to lag on. And it was the best possible lag you could have. Because you could 'pop' out in front of people after you go back to norm, or just freeze everybody for you but to them you were still moving and not lagging at all while running around invincible (from their POV). And the best thing was, since they used dedicated servers... everybody could lag... not just the host. And all your movement and shots were stored in the PS3 ready to be sent out when the connection was made. So if you opted for the 'freeze to them' method, its absolutely hilarious when you de-lag, cause it shows your characters body running around at the speed of light to catch up to where you really are.
