(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I LOVE SHOTGUNNING . This is a thread for those of you who are sick of being wrecked by shotguns, and tired of unsuccessfully trying to make them effective. I shotgun religiously. In MW1, my shotgun loadout was used on every map, every time I played. This game has taken that to a whole new level. So here are some tips to make you effective in both core and hardcore.

GUNS

CORE: Spas 12 or the model
The Spas-12 is a great pick for core game types and new shotgunners for a number of reasons. The power and range really give you a feel for what shotguns are capable of without leaving you too vulnerable. The pump action forces new shotgunners to pick their shots carefully, an important skill that is often overlooked by those who go immediately for a weapon like the AA-12. Also, in core, you can get away with using this weapon without stopping power is you so desire. Also, it's available from the beginning, so if you intend to shotgun your way up the ladder, you'd better get used to this weapon. the model... I'm sure everyone knows this is a badass shotgun even after the patch but i think the spas is better because of its overall qualities.

HARDCORE: The Striker or AA-12
If you're shotgunning in hardcore, you most likely have dabbled in it beforehand. That said, The Striker is ideal for you. Semi-auto with a great range and accuracy. Damage doesn't matter, because all shotguns will kill with one shot at range in hardcore. Also, it's available fairly early on, so you don't have to wait forever for the M1041 to unlock. An all around great weapon. the AA-12 is also good as its semi automatic but there is not a lot of ammo

ATTACHMENTS
For my money, the grip is the only attachment a shotgunner should ever need. If you use Bling Pro, FMJs are also nice to have.

PERKS
Perks are more of a personal matter for a shotgunner. I would say Lightweight Pro is the only one that should at least be considered. i usually use marathon and commando as other perks but they dont really matter.

TACTICS

Knowing how and where to prowl with your shotgun is the key to success, far more than the weapon you choose. With that in mind,

here are some Shotgunning tips

#1 - NEVER AIM DOWN SIGHT
I can't stress this enough. You do not ever need to aim down sight with a shotgun. Fire from the hip, always.

#2 - NEVER USE A SILENCER
You don't need a silencer on your shotgun, ever. It reduces the range by a crippling amount. Also, the loud sound of the gun will, if nothing else, put your enemies on lookout for you. You want that. When they're looking for you, they are off guard, not watching well traveled routes. Also, that dot on the UAV will most likely attract customers to your area, where the shotgun is king.

#3 - TIGHT LOCATION ARE KING
In any area where long range weapons are ineffective, the shotgun is king. Short enclosed areas, such as the interior areas of Karachi, are money for shotgunner.

#4 - AVOID LONG ALLEYWAYS AND OPEN AREAS
If you ever find yourself running up a long alleyway with your shotgun out, you are dead. Simple as that. Just don't do it. EVER. Crossing alleyways at a full run is fine, especially if it attracts the attention of overzealous run-and-gunners.

#5 - STICK TO THE EDGES OF THE MAP
This is where most snipers hang out, looking cross map. A shotgunner who cruises around the edge of the map looking for marathon runners and unwary snipers will be successful.

#6 - ASSUME EVERY DOOR HAS TWO CLAYMORES GUARDING IT
As a newcomer to the shotgunning world, you will learn to fear and respect claymores. With patience and awareness, you can turn a camper or sniper's reliance on claymores into death by shotgun... for them.

#7 - DUCK AND WEAVE
If ever you are caught off guard by a savvy camper or creeping survivalist, there are only two options. Run for cover, or charge at them full tilt until you're in range. In either case, ducking and weaving is key. Learn how to throw off your opponent's aim, and you'll come out on top.

#8 - LIGHTWEIGHT IS YOUR FRIEND
If you are a dedicated shotgunner, lightweight is your best friend. I'm not saying that it should be used on every kit that has a shotgun, but it should at least be considered. That quick aim after a sprint is CLUTCH for alleyway kills, especially against creeping survivalists.

#9 - SPECIAL GRENADES
Although important to all classes, special grenades are especially important to shotgunners. Whichever type you prefer, learn to use them effectively. I personally use smoke as a distraction from my real motives.

#10 - THE SHOTGUN IS NOT ALWAYS THE ANSWER
Despite how awesome shotguns are, they are not always the best. Make sure you know when it's time to put the deer-killer away for a little while.

Hope this helps anyone who's struggling with shotgunning.
