(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Ok, i was paying with a few friends earlier when i came to this little useful glitch. Here's a written tutorial.

Way #1: Start a game and play for a few seconds. have your friend back out and invite you to his party. Hit the PS button to go to your XMB and go to his message. now heres the timing part. when you hit join, make sure he backs out of his party onto the multiplayer menu screen. you should have an error saying unable to connect to host (i think its that). Then your start menu with the large map will be displayed and your still able to move around!

Way #2: Do the same thing all the way up to where you go to your XMB and your ready to hit join in on your friends party. Before you hit join, have your friend join your session so he's back in your game. Once he does that (i think it might have to be at the exact same time) hit join to his party and the error will come up. Hit ok and your start menu is up!
