I'm not sure why but the M14 was a gun in cod4

The M14 in Campaign and the M21 in MP are the exact same gun, it's a bit odd...

it mainly cos you ONLY get the sniper rifle (M21) in online.

if you play the spec ops mission Breach & Clear you will find the M14 single fire rifle (without the scope) from cod4 at the start^

Yes but in campaign instead of calling it the M21 EBR it's called the M14 EBR Scoped.

in real life the M14 scope is fully removable for closer ranged shooting

where as the M21 & M25 are accurized sniper rifle versions. These are the more standard sniper rifle variants of the M14 which is why they used the name M21 EBR
