We all know that in the hit title Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 the Spec Ops feature wasn't the greatest thing we've seen in a Call of Duty title, and we know for certain it didn't beat the oh-so-addicting Zombies Mode in Call of Duty: World at War and the newer title Call of Duty: Black Ops, both made by Treyarch.

It seems as if Infinity Ward is trying to top Zombies and taking the franchise of Modern Warfare to a new level; still having Spec Ops, but fighting off countless waves of enemies, while the horde of the opposing side gets more and more difficult each round.

But Infinity Ward is making an effort to tweak some rules in Spec Ops Survival mode to make it better than any other 'survival-based' mode, they're doing this by sending enemies ceaselessly (and if you don't know what that means, it won't be a 100% round-based mode, you'll be fighting enemies without any 20 or so second breaks).

By now you're thinking it's a Zombie Mode copy, but you're most definitely wrong, there are objectives that you must complete to progress through the mode and keep yourself and your teammates alive.

  • Blow/shoot enemy choppers out of the sky before they destroy you.

  • Execute canine enemies rigged with C4 and different types of explosives before they blow themselves and you up with them.

  • Strategically place turret guns around the map to protect you.

You also earn money as you progress farther and farther into the mode, allowing you to buy new weapons, ammunition, equipment, and even air support all at your disposal. This is another feature Infinity Ward is adding that is unique to other survival modes set in different games.

The level I played is called Dome, a small desert map that's also featured in the game as a regular multiplayer map. There are both outdoor areas of this map and indoor buildings and bunkers you can retreat to and defend. At one point, my partner placed a turret directly in front of a crate we were using for cover, while we fired on enemies from the sides of the crate.

It seems if there will be maps in Spec Ops Survival mode will be the same as ones on the regular Multiplayer feature everybody goes crazy about, which is also different from Treyarch's style of Zombie Mode.

It seems while he was at the E3 release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, the enemies will get more difficult and difficult as you play. I'm guessing Round 1 will seem harmless, but Round 2 will bring out new enemies and more difficult objectives to complete, and so on throughout the rounds.

Infinity Ward is making a good choice with this, seeing as Zombies is a hit thing with World at War and Black Ops, do you think that they're making a good decision?

That sucks man, haha. I'd love to play with a bunch of my friends, seems like it's going to be a really addictive game mode.
