Modern Warfare 3 - Party chat fixes
Source: You must login or register to view this content. // By: Wondoh // 16th July 2011

If your an xbox gamer like me you would have noticed that Mw2 the find match screen looked like this:

You must login or register to view this content.

Now if your more of a social gamer this was a pain in the arse and the fact you were blocked from talking to friends in party chat limited you to what you played. I for one only play the gametypes that allow party chat as im more interested in talking to my friends then playing some hardcore call of duty.

You must login or register to view this content.

Obviously this was put in for clear reasons such as to prevent boosting, and cheating (yelling out spawn points or team locations etc) but COD4 did not have these restrictions.

Obviously gametypes like S&Awesome face would turn off party chat as you may end up on the opposite team and it would easily turn into a gold mine for team locations. But there are many gametypes which the black should be taken off on such as ordinary team deathmatch or domination.

Words from Bowling

MTV's Russ Frushtick spoke to Robert bowling at an event in New York and asked him what they were changing about party chat restrictions. Bowling commented:

"When designing multiplayer, especially 'Modern Warfare' multiplayer, you have 30 million people playing, They all are very different. You have guys like you, playing just for fun, just want to jump on there and have a good time. You have your hardcore competitive guys. You have your casual guys that maybe are competitive, they're just not as good. It's all about delivering a platform to allow you to have fun the way you want to have fun without hindering the other audiences."

Well this is all very true and you have the so called "noobs" who arnt as hardcore as you and just come on for a casual session. I know I could be classed as one of the "hardcore gamers", not one who plays it non stop i mean someone who knuckles down and plays.

How will this be changed? Well:

"A major focus of 'Modern Warfare 3' multiplayer is allowing you to have a lot more control over how you play, looking at those restrictions and doing away with stuff like Party Chat blocking that's super hardcore. It's about giving options. We will have places where competitive guys go where you might have restrictive voice chat. And then you have an option to maybe play that same mode without the same restrictions if that's the type of player you are."

Now this sounds really interesting. There will be a larger find game search which allows you to customize which type of game you want to join Im guessing.
So if you dont care about not talking to anyone there will be a playlist for those types of gamer. And for those who play for a laugh there will also be options on which games you can join. This then affects party chat options.

But surely this could be abused? The hardcore gamers could easily search for "noobs" and try to find easy matches?
Unless it looks at your combat record and puts a filter on limits for each gametype?

We will have to wait and see, but this is excellent news for xbox gamers and hopefully just one of many awesome tweaks packed into Modern Warfare 3 :y:
