FIRST: IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE RATING OF THE GAME!!!
I've seen a lot of people talking about how they feel scammed because they were under 18 and couldn't redeem their codes. Well, here is THE reason for it. It has a lot to do with the compete section. This isn't the only part, but it plays a large role in how they had to approach it.
When you sign up for Elite, you enter into a legal binding contract. Everything from how you play, to where you live, to what prizes you can win, to what you can hold Activision and the developers responsible for. Because you must be 18+ to enter into a contract without a parent in the US, you can't enter into the Elite contract under the age of 18. Wait, you ask. "In my country you only have to be (insert legal age here) to enter into a contract." Well, with Activision being located in the US, you are entering under the laws and rules of the host country.
Hopefully this clears a bit up about why you have to be 18 to be eligible for it with my small law knowledge. If anyone has anything they'd like to add I'd appreciate it as well.
