Yeah I've tried. That doesn't work. It says it's successful and it's NAT 2. (Pretty hard to get 1 through a router) I go to Mw3...it's strict. Mw2...it's open. Very irritating.

Very strange. I decided to do the same thing. But this time it chose to give me NAT 3. I then used 8888 and 8844 for my DNS (Google) and it gave me NAT 2.

Alrighty I will try to do a factory reset right now. I hope this will solve the problem. If it doesn't then I will be pissed.

I have the D-LINK DIR-655 v2 router originally with the 2.00NA firmware. Here is how I got the NAT to open for Modern Warefare 3.

1. Upgrade to firmware v2.03NA found at
You must login or register to view this content.

2. Reserve your PS3 on the router DHCP reservation list under SETUP>>NETWORK SETTINGS so that you have a static local IP address always assigned for the PS3 (mine was set to 192.168.0.104)

3. Configure your router to forward the following ports that MW3 uses to the IP address of your PS3 (instructions found at You must login or register to view this content.):

- TCP Ports: 80, 443, 3074, 5223
- UDP Ports: 81, 3074-3075, 3478-3479, 3658

NOTE: If your looking for ports for another game, you might find them here

You can also find directions for any particular router if you do not have a D-Link DIR-655v2 at
You must login or register to view this content.
If an advertisement pops up, click "SKIP THIS ADVERTISEMENT" at the top right corner of the page.

4. In the router's ADVANCED>>ADVANCED NETWORK section:
- Enable UPfP.

5. In the router's ADVANCED>>FIREWALL SETTINGS:
- If you have DMZ, Enable DMZ Host and added your PS3 IP address.
- For D-LINK DIR-655, Under NAT ENDPOINT FILTERING toggle both TCP and UDP to "Endpoint Independent"
- If you have a NAT Redirection, make sure this is disabled.

6. You may need to configure your IP address manually on the PS3 to the assigned IP address you saved on the router.

Worked for me...hope it works for you.
