So my first thought was, find something that is unlocked 40+ in the levels. I was thinking dead silence, but some of the assaults would be nice too. Can I only use unlock gear once through the WHOLE game?

if you spend a token to unlock lets say the ACR you will always have that gun even when you prestige.. no matter how many times you prestige.. downside is when you prestige the lvl and challenges and everything with the gun yo have to earn again

Good XP wise. Since it's you're favorite gun you'll gain all that xp easy.
