I noticed on Black Ops it lagged much longer if you had a lot of messages. If you just cleared your messages before doing this than it won't lag past 2 seconds, so build up a ton a messages for some great lag.
With around 1,700 messages on PS3, I lagged for a good 9-13 seconds.
