I had a twitter request to help someone on their NAT so I figured this is a good chance to help others! Keep in mind you'll need to select the game(s) you want to open the ports for. This method works for both PS3 & Xbox 360! Below I've included a list of the MW3 ports
PS3 & Xbox Ports to forward: TCP: 3074, 27014-27050
UDP: 3074, 27000-27030
Misc Tips:
Finding the IP of your router/modem on Windows:
1) Start --> Run --> CMD
2) In CMD command prompt type "ipconfig/all" (without quotes) and press enter
3) A bunch of mumbo jumbo comes up, but you're looking for the numbers next to Default Gateway. It should read something like this 192.168.1.1
4) open your internet browser and type in the default gateway IP

You can also put your PS3 or Xbox's static IP in your router's DMZ, which opens all ports and makes every online feature faster :y:
Here's a guide on DMZ - this guide works great for MW3, but for other games you'll have to use this or get the ports for that specific game. You must login or register to view this content.

Add how to place a device in DMZ. That makes it better and well improved =D

true, however left that out intentionally since there are several different types of routers out there and the config screens look slightly different.
Adding your console in the DMZ usually works, but opening the specific ports (regardless of DMZ) will ALWAYS be the best solution. I have my console in the DMZ as well as the specific ports open.

Alright Might make a video you can include for DMZ. For a NETGEAR and a Linksys router, but you can always find one on youtube as there are 100's of them.
Setting up DMZ is quite easy regardless of the router I would say, but some doesent have it as an option though.
You don't have to add it though, thread is fine as it is. Im going to thank you, eventhough I knew it beforehand

Thanks. I understand. I made this for some of the other people who might be having problems with this sort of thing. Obviously you have some advanced knowledge on this stuff as well. :y:
I tried opening ports and everything a long time ago but it didn't work. The DMZ method DID work for me actually, but the problem is that I have two ps3's in my house (one is from my brother, but I can only put one IP-address into DMZ. So do you know if its possible to have multiple IP-addresses into a DMZ?

Had trouble with this a few years ago, so I had to learn it. Learned other stuff within router settings too.
Add a written tutorial, some more additional info and you'll make it sticky. I belive. =D
I was always afraid of trying this, the stupid part of all of this is that my NAT is Type 2, in MW2 its OPEN. Black Ops STRICT, MW3 STRICT
WTF?
You won't have to do this if your mw2 is open nat type, if you are wanting to play black ops or mw3 with a open nat insert mw2 into disc drive wait for it to load and then connect to multiplayer when you see the nat type as open press find game the back out eject disk and input black ops or mw3 and your nat type will be open.
Basically it works as mw2 opens all the ports needed for Cod and for some reason guarantees a open nat type if done as per the tut above
