The MP40 outclassed most guns on W@W.
On MW2 the Tar 21, FAMAS, M16, Scar, FAL w/holo, RPD were just as good as UMP. UMP's issue was how good it was from range. It wasn't the clear best in the game at all especially since you couldn't equip a noobtube on it so noobtubers couldn't do as much.
I only think overpowered gun debates are scapegoats. I mean people could use the same gun or usually there were less used guns that were just as powerful.
The MP40 shits on UMP, FAMAS and the 74u from Black Ops. MW2 had gun variety.

Yea it is way overpowered than the ump.. When the game first came out, you didn't see many people using the mp40 like that. But now, that's what mostly everyone uses.

I chose COD4, I don't generally have a reason, it just honestly is one of my favourites (I've played COD since the franchise was released).
But it depends how many people carried on playing it in years to come, if that number fell I would most probably play Black Ops/MW3 due to Zombies/Survival Mode.
Adding to this, I've just thought about COD3, and remember all the fun times I had playing that on Multiplayer as many people began purchasing consoles and COD from when me and my parent recommended it to them, so many fun times team killing my friends ;P
