(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Chaos Mode is now available for Xbox 360. Storm takes some time out from the massacre to review the new Modern Warfare 3 game mode, which is fittingly titled.

Chaos Mode… where do I begin? It really is just that, absolute chaos. Think Survival mode, then multiply the action tenfold. Infinite enemies, unlimited weapons and unlimited score multipliers combine to make one awesome experience, unlike any other seen in a Call of Duty game. However, there is a little more to it than just mindlessly killing enemies.

I launched Chaos Mode for the first time, having never seen any footage of it and having no idea what to expect. I was instantly greeted by a dozen enemies on my map of choice, Dome. There is no delay, the enemies appear almost instantly and, as you would expect, therefore the massacre begins. Soldiers come from everywhere, accompanied by their usual companions: dogs, juggernauts, suicide bombers and more bad guys with chemical agents strapped to their back.

Now down to the nitty-gritty. Chaos Mode is currently available on four maps: Resistance, Village, Underground, and Dome. Once a player spawns in to the level, a timer set at 2 minutes begins to countdown. The player spawns with a pistol equipped with a tactical knife, but there are plenty of weapons on the ground available to pick-up and use, and they constantly regenerate. You have an extreme amount of health and armour, as well as 3 Last Stand bonuses.

As soon as the player gets a kill, the multiplier counter begins. Almost every action will increase your multiplier by one. For example: getting a kill, picking up a new weapon, collecting a care package and even activating a sentry-gun. For every 10 multiplier bonuses (10x), the player earns a new perk. The perks available range from Sleight of Hand to Juiced and even Faster Health Regeneration. The perks are a major help when things get heated.

The multiplier counter goes hand-in-hand with an activity level meter. The activity meter lasts around 4-5 seconds and is re-set to 100% for just about every action in-game, as the same with the multiplier. If the activity meter fully depletes, the player loses all their perks and the multiplier bonus returns to zero.

Here’s where things get interesting. Remember the timer? It starts at the beginning of the round with 2 minutes available. Once the timer runs out, it is not game over. However, when the timer reaches 0, you must keep your multiplier bonus/activity meter active to continue the game. If the meter runs out and you don’t have any time on the clock, it’s game over. Also, if you are killed and don’t have any more Last Stand perks, you will lose. However, if you go down, it is possible to keep your activity meter going and keep your perks after you get back up.

Care packages arrive often from friendly helicopters that provide goodies such as Sentry Guns, extra multiplier points, another Last Stand, an extra 60 seconds and an activity meter freeze, which for 5 seconds freezes the activity meter, granting you some extra time when in a sticky situation. It does not have to be activated as soon as the care package is collected; you can save it and activate it from your killstreak slot.

I haven’t had so much fun playing Modern Warfare 3 in a very long time. Chaos Mode is fast-paced and intensive. It doesn’t last anywhere near as long as a Zombies round. If mowing down hundreds of enemies is your thing, then look no further. As opposed to working your way around the map and earning points to buy weapons in Survival, Chaos Mode throws you right into situations where nothing else matters except holding the right trigger. It is satisfying to clear a crowd of hostiles surrounding you with your favourite weapon. In multiplayer you stalk the map working hard for kills. Chaos Mode throws this all out the door.

Chaos Pack Official Trailer

Chaos Mode arrived August 9th as a part of the Chaos Pack, which also featured four Special Ops missions: Vertigo, Arctic Recon, Light 'Em Up and Special Delivery. It can be played alone (solo) or with a friend (co-op). Due to the Activision’s agreement with Microsoft, it is currently only out on the Xbox 360. It will set you back 1200 MSP ($15). However, if you are a Call of Duty ELITE subscriber, all the content mentioned in the Chaos pack is available to download for free as a part of your subscription. Playstation 3 and PC gamers can expect it to arrive on their respective platform shortly.

Have you had a chance to play Chaos Mode? I can see hours ahead of fun playing it, and I am hoping that Infinity Ward will continue to support it by making it available on all the maps and adding new features. A great game mode, thumbs up from me. However, to make it the best it possibly can be, I think Infinity Ward needs to continue to support it with new maps and features. When dis awesome shit is coming to ps3 ?

There was no set date announced by Infinity Ward or Activision, but expect it be in September because of Microsoft's 30 day exclusivity deal with Activision.

This is a pretty sick addition, considering MW3 has been so bad lately. So this will be like a fun to play/high score type of thing?

Exactly. Depending on how long you survive, you can get scores of around 40 million! However that is quite difficult. Check out this video to get an idea of what I'm talking about Smile
