You do not have to delete your patch, but they only work solo, not co-op! Using them is very simple whether you've modded before or not. Extract your gamesave using your favorite tool, whether it be transfer or USB. Then open your profile with Modio's resigner. Extract your profile ID from your gamesave (just copy it.) Now open the modded profile from the map of your choice and paste your profile ID into the section where it says "Profile ID." Now rehash and resign. Then inject back into your hard drive or USB stick. Then just load up the game, click solo, and hit "Resume Game."

Yes, they do work after the patch, so you can be signed into XBL. But they are single player only, not co-op.
