do they last until you shoot them? or can they die from being in the game too long?

on PS3 the rounds only go up to round 2147.. if you go over round 2147 your round score will be sent to the bottom of the leaderboards so i need to make round 2147 last as long as possible.

Since im going for #1 spot it will take me over 16 hours on round 2147 to do it... i'm just uncertain how long dogs actually last because sometimes they die even though you don't even shoot.

Well i already planned to down myself(commit suicide) but firstly i need to get a long round time and i'm wondering how long dogs survive for because sometimes they die randomly!!!
