Thank you for your feedback following the release of Call of Duty: World at War. We have learned that some PS3 users are experiencing anomalies with their in-game stats resetting completely, or sometimes just appearing to lose a few arbitrary ranks. We are investigating this issue as our top priority.

Initially, it was suspected that this problem was linked to a player shutting down their PS3 at the end of a match at the same moment that the game was trying to write the stats to profile storage on the server. While this is still a possible contributor, there are many external causes of data corruption that can occur during the process of reading and writing data over a network. We still recommend that you wait until you are back into the next match’s game lobby before you shut down your PS3. Additionally, quitting the game prior to shutting off the console may decrease your chances of losing your stats.

We will be releasing an update as soon as we are confident that we have a solid & tested fix, and apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. We know you work hard for your stats, and understand the seriousness of the matter.

UPDATE: We have instrumented defensive code to prevent stats resetting when a data anomaly occurs, and this will go live with our next patch. See the following sticky post for an explanation of this process. We are currently near the end of phase 2, which means that we hope to publish this patch in early February.
